Exercising outside the gym

The gym isn't the only place to do exercise. There are a multitude of fitness options open to you. Here are 7 alternative exercises to the gym.


Walking


Great for weight lose and improving heart and lunges



  • Walk to and from work

  • Get off the bus one stop earlier

  • Take the stairs whenever you can

  • Leave your desk at least twice a day and go for a 10min walk

  • Hiking

Water sports - Fun and fitness



  • Swimming at your local pool

  • Go to the beach if possible (always swim between the flags)

  • Aqua Aerobics

  • Surfing

  • Kyaking

  • Sailing and boating

Bike riding - Great form of cardio vascular exercise



  • Ride your bike as often as you can

  • Mountain bike trails

  • Join a local bike club

Dancing - Great for coordination and toning



  • Cutting the rug at your local night club

  • Dance classes (Hip Hop, Funk, Classical, Belly dancing, Tango etc)

Sports - Fun and great for fitness



  • Cricket

  • Soccer

  • Touch football

  • Tennis

  • Golf

Martial arts - Great for confidence and fitness



  • Karate
